US State Department Releases Latest Human Rights Report

On the 20th of March, the U.S. State Department released its annual International Human Rights Report for 2022, which mentions human rights issues in Communist China, including the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s genocide against the Uighur people, the oppression of Tibetans, and the suppression of basic rights in Hong Kong. Discussion of the Hong Kong democracy movement, the Tibet Issue, the Taiwan Question, the Tiananmen Square Massacre, and many policies are all sensitive topics that are banned on the internet in mainland China. The report notes that more than one million Uyghurs have been detained in concentration camps and prisons since 2017, with many subjected to “re-education.” The judicial and legal system under the Communist dictatorship is also opaque, and reports of arbitrary detention and abuse of Uyghurs are common. Communist China’s dictatorship severely restricts and blocks the domestic Internet, and during the 20th National Congress, there were even restrictions on online posts and WeChat discussions. In terms of pandemic control policies, the Communist dictatorship uses mobile applications to invade people’s privacy under the guise of pandemic prevention and carries out surveillance and control. The “health code” to prevent the pandemic has been used to restrict people’s freedom of movement, with anyone who participated in protests at the bank in Henan last year having their health codes turned red and then being forced to undergo compulsory quarantine. These are all crimes against human rights committed by the CCP against the Chinese people.
