German Chancellor Warns the World to Avoid Putin’s Trap

In an interview with German TV station ZDF, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned the international community to not walk into the trap set up by Putin of asserting that the world is divided into the global west, namely the G7 and its friends in the north, and all the rest of the countries, which is not true.

Scholz said on Monday that Germany’s relations with Russia will never return to the pre-war period after the invasion of Ukraine. He added that the world is united in support of Ukraine in the present crisis and warned against “walking into Putin’s trap” as Russia continues to point out the rift in relations between EU countries.Germany is currently holding the G7 summit, the Chancellor added in the interval of the meeting that there are democracies all over the world and they have very similar perspectives.

Germany joined some EU countries to cut Russia’s oil exports after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Scholz made it clear again in a televised speech on Saturday that Germany has to change when the situation changes.

This year, the G7 summit also invited the leaders of five countries that were deemed the “democracies of the future”, including India, Indonesia, Senegal, South Africa and Argentina.

It is reported that Scholz believes it is good, important and necessary that people talk to each other, and listening to each other creates mutual understanding and makes each other’s work easier.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the G7 to limit the price of Russian oil and respond to intensify sanctions for Russia’s invasion of his country.
