Austria officially lifts suspended law on mandatory vaccination against the CCP virus

Last year, the Austrian government announced plans of requiring all people 18 years and older to receive the CCP virus (COVID-19) vaccine, and was the first country in Europe to do so. The law came into effect in February of this year, but lawmakers suspended implementation of the law before it was enforced in mid-March.

According to a report from the Washington Times on June 23, Austrian Health Minister Johannes Rauch said the emergence of new variants of the CCP virus has altered people’s opinions on the effectiveness and necessity of vaccination, dissenting opinion are held even among those who would like to be vaccinated.

As a result, Rauch proclaimed the abolishment of the mandatory vaccination program against the CCP virus.
