Norway Openly Ignores Putin’s Threats and Donates Howitzers to Ukraine

On June 8th, as reported, Norway publicly ignored Vladimir Putin’s threats and provided much-needed aid to stranded Ukrainian troops on the frontline.
Norway has donated 22 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine to help the embattled country defend itself against Russian attacks.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram said, “development in the war in Ukraine now suggests that it is necessary to also donate heavier artillery and weapons’ systems.”
The statement shows Norwegian Army donated the M109 guns after recently replacing their artillery with new additions from South Korea.
Minister Gram said the supplies were a “substantial contribution” to the Ukraine war effort as the howitzer is a long-range weapon, usually arranged in a gun crew to strike targets at a distance.
The Norwegian government stated the donation was not made public initially due to security concerns. Meanwhile, future donations would likely not be announced either.
The Netherlands and Germany have also supplied howitzers to Ukraine, indicating an increasing global push-back against Russian actions to encroach on Ukrainian territory.
