Ukraine Has Identified More Than 600 Russian War Crime Suspects

On May 31st, Kyiv’s top prosecutor said Ukraine has identified more than 600 Russian war crime suspects and has started prosecuting around 80 of them.

In a press conference, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General said the list of suspects included “top military, politicians and propaganda agents” in Russia. Kyiv and the Baltic states were cooperating with the International Criminal Court, which launched its investigation into suspected war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine in early March.

On May 23rd, a Russian soldier who killed a Ukrainian civilian was sentenced to life imprisonment at the first war crimes trial in a Kyiv court since Moscow’s invasion.
