Ukrainian Counterattacks Are Advancing From Kharkiv To The Russian Border

On May 17, local time, according to relevant media reports, after confirming the security of the Ukraine’s capital Kiev and the surrounding area, Ukrainian defenders are gradually expelling the Russian invasion forces to the border areas. According to reports from the front lines, territorial defense forces in the Kharkiv region have regained control of parts of the border between Ukraine and Russia.
In a speech, Ukrainian President Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the local defenders, saying it was a huge gain by the Ukrainian army. On the other hand, while Russian troops are withdrawing from the area around KharkIv, the entire Kharkiv area is not completely safe. The Kharkiv Regional Government informed a casualty accident that morning: Russian rockets hit Zyrkuny in the northeastern suburb of the area, killing one person and wounding two.
In addition, the Russian forces still control positions around the Izium transport hub in the eastern part of the region. Meanwhile, President Zelensky’s adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said on social media platforms that the Russian army is currently shrinking in Lugansk due to lack of force, while Ukraine will continue to make Moscow face reality with its actions.
