Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Chief “Optimistic” About Counter-offensive

It is reported that on May 14th, Russian forces suffered heavy losses in the failed crossing of the Siverskyi Donets River due to Ukrainian artillery and air strikes.

The Ukrainian army has begun a counter-offensive in the eastern area of the city of Izium. Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, said mid-august will be a major turning point for the war, and Russia will be defeated by the end of the year. Ukraine will recapture lost territories in the Donbas and Crimea.

Budanov also pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin is seriously ill with cancer, and is in a very bad physical and psychological condition. On top of that, a coup to oust Putin is already underway. For these reasons, the turning point of the war is approaching, and the defeat of the Russian army will certainly lead to Putin’s downfall.

Analysts say that the Russo-Ukrainian war shows the Russian army is not as strong as the world thought and can hardly poses a threat to Europe.
