Ukraine Forces Strike Down 10 Russian Drones

The Ukrainian Air Force Command made a statement on May 2nd that the Ukrainian forces shot down 10 Russian Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) on May 1st. It stated that the Russian Orlan-10 UAV is now “the most popular target” for the Ukrainian Army Air Defense units.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, currently Russian warplanes are mainly operating outside Ukrainian airspace or in territories temporarily occupied by Russian forces, where Russia has deployed various air defense systems. The Orlan-10 drones are mainly used for aerial reconnaissance.

The Ukrainian Air Force Command said that the price of one such drone ranges from $80,000 to $120,000 depending on the configuration. Almost all components are imported from the United States, Japan, Communist China, Germany, or some other countries. The drones can perform tasks such as targeting and aerial broadcasting, which pose a serious threat to Ukrainian troops. Although such drones are small and hard to spot, more and more drones are shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces with different weapons.
