Xi Jinping Supports Putin and Accuses the West of Ignoring Other Countries’ Rights

According to a report on June 24th, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) President Xi Jinping spoke at a summit of five emerging BRICS countries on June 23rd, criticizing Western countries for “ignoring the rights and interests of other countries.”

The meeting was held online and was attended by leaders of the five countries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Criticizing the West’s desire to expand NATO, President Xi said “some countries are conspiring to seek absolute security by expanding the military alliance on a large scale, ignoring the interests of other countries.”

He also cited the West’s desire to expand NATO as a justification for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, and reiterated his position that he will keep fighting together with Russia.

Xi made his opposition clear ahead of the G-7 summit, which begins on the June 26th. BRICS countries should support each other on issues related to their core interests and oppose hegemony and bullying, he said.
