According to White House spokesman John Kirby, the United States announced an additional $450 million worth of security assistance to the Ukraine. This is a commitment to Ukraine on helping it defend its territory in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
The Russian-Ukrainian war has entered a brutally attritional phase in recent weeks, with Russians concentrating superior firepower on the Donbas region.
This is the 13th time during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict that US President Joe Biden has used the president’s authority to use funds to provide a package of aid to Ukraine. The total amount of assistance provided by the United States since the outbreak of the conflict on February 24th is $6.1 billion.
The arms package included the Haimas multiple rocket launcher system, 36,000 rounds of artillery ammunition, eighteen 155 mm artillery tractors, 1,200 grenade launchers, and 2,000 machine guns of various types, and eighteen coastal and river patrol boats and spare parts.
