German Chancellor May Visit Ukraine Amid Pressure

According to a report on June 13th, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz refused to comment on reports that he plans to visit Ukraine with the leaders of France and Italy.
It is reported Schulz will visit Kyiv with French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Berlin before attending G-7 summit in Germany this month.
A number of other European leaders, including the German opposition leader and members of the Schulz cabinet, have visited Ukraine to express their support for Ukraine’s resistance to Russian aggression. This has pressured the German chancellor, who has given Ukraine economic and military support since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine three months ago. However, the German government has still been criticized nationally and internationally for being too slow to respond and too little support comparing to the United States and other smaller European countries.
Zelensky said he looked forward to receiving personal support from Scholz for Ukraine’s EU membership and discussions on further sanctions against Russia.
