FBI Arrests Pete Navarro for Contempt of Congress

Former Trump adviser Dr. Navarro was arrested by FBI agents on his way to Nashville via Washington, D.C.

Navarro, a former White House economic adviser, has been charged by a federal grand jury with two counts of contempt of Congress for failing to submit documents and testify in line with a lower house subpoena, the U.S. Justice Department said on Friday.

Peter Navarro is an American economist, former Assistant to the President of the United States, Director of the White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, and Policy Coordinator for the Defense Production Act. He has pressed for a reduction in the U.S. trade deficit and has frequently criticized Germany and China for currency manipulation. Navarro has warned long ago about the CCP’s plundering of the U.S. economy. He has published dozens of books, including Deadly China.

In court, Navarro accused the prosecution that he was not allowed to make phone calls, and said that he planned not to hire a lawyer to defend himself for the time being.

At the same time he told Judge Zia Faruqui that the criminal proceedings should be postponed until the end of his civil proceedings against the congressional committee of inquiry.
