Blinken will deliver key speech of Biden administration on China policy

On May 26, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will deliver an important policy speech at George Washington University, detailing how the Biden administration will handle the US-China relations.

Blinken had planned to give a speech on China policy earlier, but it was postponed as he was tested positive for COVID 19 on May 4. Blinken chose to hold the speech after Biden’s visit to Japan. He will further elaborate on President Biden’s China policy.

President Biden’s statement on his visit to Japan made it clear that if the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) invades Taiwan, the United States would defend Taiwan.

A senior official said that Russia’s invasion to Ukraine has damaged the foundation of the international order. Any attempt to change the status quo by force in Asia or other parts of the world is unacceptable.

State Department spokesman Price said the CCP often misinterprets US policies in CCP’s briefings and statements and continues to do so. In addition, the Biden administration has made it clear that it will focus on expanding and strengthening US’s position in Indo-Pacific region.
