Russian pilot who conducted air strikes against Ukrainian civilians was aware that their commanders would place the blame for war crimes on them, a report suggested.

That led to many enemy pilots trying to obtain any kind of written record to help shift the responsibility to a senior Russian military commander at a potential future international tribunal.

They also paid bribes to remove their names from documents reflecting criminal orders they carried out in Ukraine, Ukrainian intelligence services said.
