US Biden’s administration said that countries participating in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for prosperity initiative will hold a ministerial meeting in Los Angeles in September, a framework that includes Japan to counter Communist China.
The US Secretary of Commerce announced that they will co-host an Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Ministerial in Los Angeles, California on September 8-9, 2022.
This is the first in-person Ministerial meeting US with 13 Indo-Pacific partners held this year, the meeting will continue active discussions in each of the four pillars: trade; supply chains; clean energy, decarbonization, and infrastructure; and tax and anti-corruption.
Biden launched the IPEF initiative during his visit to Japan in May, aiming to create a new economic circle of democratic nations that sets common rules on trade and investment, apparently to counter Communist China’s increased economic aggression.
