Theory of laboratory origins

In a study released in January 2021, Dr. Steven Quay set out to establish where SARS-CoV-2 came from. He began by assuming a natural jump from animals was by far the likelier explanation, then weighed twenty-six independent pieces of evidence one by one. By the end of the analysis the balance had reversed: he put the chance of a laboratory origin at 99.8%, against 0.2% for a natural one.

HOUSE FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE REPORT MINORITY STAFF

An updated report from the minority staff of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, led by Rep. Michael T. McCaul, concluded that the virus behind COVID-19 had been genetically manipulated and escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology by accident in August or September 2019.
The report's authors also found that Chinese officials took part in covering up the leak, calling it the greatest cover-up of all time.

Why Is SARS-CoV-2 an Unrestricted Bioweapon?

1. It is significantly virulent and can cause large scale casualty.

2. It is highly contagious and transmits easily, often through respiratory routes in the form of aerosols. The most dangerous scenario would be that it allows human-to-human transmission.

3. It is relatively resistant to environmental changes, can sustain transportation, and is capable of supporting targeted release.
