On May 27th, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) of the Philippines approved Starlink’s network access license, allowing the entire country to have access to Starlink’s internet service.
Starlink officials said they will get the ground facilities that are needed to get the service up and running as soon as possible. The NTC responded that it will ensure a speedy and professional rollout of Starlink’s internet access services. Soon, the Philippines will be the first country in Southeast Asia to offer the Starlink broadband service.
According to the source, Starlink is expected to be much better than the higher latency and lower speed fare offered by regular satellite internet, to cover villages in urban and suburban areas and rural areas that remain unserved or underserved with internet access services, and to better assist in the event of natural disasters.
Starlink’s internet service is now available in 32 countries around the world, including Australia, Brazil, Chile, the US, Canada and most of Europe. Analysts also pointed out that Starlink’s success in offering its services in Asia will undoubtedly be a critical strike to the network blocking firewall inside Communist China.
