U.S. Senate Believes To Abandon Taiwan Would Be To Abandon Democracy And Freedom

On April 15, local time, it was reported that a bipartisan congressional delegation led by US Senator Lindsey Graham has arrived in Taiwan. On the morning of the same day, members of the delegation held a meeting with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen.

At the meeting, Senator Graham said that although the US has many differences of opinion, the two parties are united in their visit to Taiwan, and in light of Russia’s current aggression against Ukraine, both parties agreed that the trip to Taiwan should demonstrate the US support and love for Taiwan, while also focusing on responding to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime’s recent escalating provocative behaviors in the Taiwan Strait.

Senator Graham also re-emphasized the importance of Taiwan to the US and the world. In terms of electronics, 90 percent of the world’s high-end semiconductors are produced in Taiwan, making Taiwan an indispensable global partner. In addition, Senator Graham noted that the US supports the right of the people of Taiwan to choose democracy, and that to abandon Taiwan would be to abandon democracy, freedom, and free trade – which would be a great shame for all of humanity.

Senator Graham concluded by stating that regardless of the attitude of the CCP, the US government will stand firmly behind its commitment to Taiwan.
