Japan Coordinates Three Prosecutors to the Military Court

On April 13th, the Japanese Ministry of Justice coordinated the dispatch of three prosecutors to the International Military Tribunal in The Hague to assist in the investigation of the war crimes of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and one of them will serve as a special adviser.

The Ukrainian justice minister announced on state television last month that 42 countries had appealed to the International Military Tribunal in The Hague for war crimes against Russia, and an international investigation had begun.Appeals by 42 countries have simplified and expedited the process as Ukrainian experts urgently gather evidence of the Butcha massacre to prosecute Russia for crimes against humanity.

The number of related war crimes is enormous, and there are currently no redundant personnel and resources to carry out the work. The justice minister said there was some international support for now, and the experts from France will arrive this week. Negotiations are also underway with some relevant EU experts, and the EU is willing to provide substantial assistance to deal with the work.

The Ukrainian justice minister also mentioned the difficulty is to prove the guilt of those who issued the order, and a team has been set up to separately prosecute the actions of each Russian soldier and the person who issued the relevant order.
