Poland Purchases Tanks To Counter The Threat of Russian Military Aggression

On April 5th, according to relevant media sources, Poland signed a contract with the U.S., confirming the purchase of 250 U.S. M1 Abrams battle tanks to counter the Russian military threat to Eastern Poland. Additionally, pertaining to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. assigned an additional five thousand troops and multiple warplanes to Poland, preventing further Russian attacks on the E.U. via Belarus.

Also according to the Minister of National Defense of Poland Błaszczak, the weapons procurement costs approximately $4.75 billion, and the first U.S. tanks are expected to be delivered within the year. Meanwhile, the Polish government announced an increase in military spending to three percent of the country’s GDP, and significantly increased the army recruitment from the current 140,000 to 300,000.
