Chinese Communist Party Recombinant Variant Virus XE Arousing Attention

According to the updated Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus announcement published by WHO on March 29, there have been over 600 cases of new recombined variant virus XE in the UK.

The CCP new recombinant variant virus XE was first reported on January 19 in the UK this year. It was found as a new variant strain because of a patient who was infected with Omicron BA.1 and BA.2 mutation strain simultaneously and these two strains made gene recombination inside his body. As per the present data, the XE variant virus has a 10% greater community transmission advantage than the most widely spread Omicron BA.2 variant. It is common for this kind of gene recombination between different mutant viruses to generate new mutant ones. At present, there are also two variants of XF and XD produced by the recombination of the Delta and the Omicron BA.1 virus strain, but the number of cases caused by these two variants are very few.

UKHSA , the UK health unit, claimed there are 637 XE cases which have been confirmed so far. They will keep closely and regularly monitor all the recombinant variant viruses by means of genome surveillance and sequencing.
