Russia Forces Leave Chernobyl

On March 31, foreign media reported, Ukraine’s nuclear operator Energoatom and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) both confirmed that Russian forces which have been in control of the Chernobyl nuclear plant since February 24, have transferred control of the plant in writing to Ukrainian personnel. Two convoys of Russian forces had already left the plant and headed toward Belarus while the third convoys also left the city of Slavutych, where the Chernobyl nuclear power plant workers live and moves towards to Belarus.

After Russia took control of the nuclear plant, Ukrainian warned that there were dangers of nuclear leakage. There are also report that Russia forces had received “significant doses of radiation” in the Exclusion Zone prior to troop withdrawal, but the IAEA said the claim could not confirm yet.
